After breakfast, you’ll self-drive to San Gerardo de Dota, a beautiful mountain village. Located about 2,000 meters above sea level, it’s a paradise for nature and bird lovers.

Unlike popular tourist spots, the area has few hotels, preserving its tranquility. Join guided walks to spot the rare quetzal bird, a highlight for birdwatchers.

The scenic drive along mountains and gorges offers breathtaking views of rainforests and sometimes the Pacific Ocean. Nearby villages Copey de Dota and Santa Maria de Dota are charming Tico communities.

They provide stunning vistas and a cool climate perfect for birdwatching and relaxing.

Hiking Cerro Buena Vista.

 One trail, which starts at 3492 meters (11,450 feet) above sea level at the highest point of Buena Vista mountain, leads down through the forest to reach the hotel at 2200 meters (7,220 feet). On a clear day, it’s possible to see the central and southern Pacific and some of the volcanoes of the Central Cordillera. You feel as if you are looking down on a life-size map.

After exploring and learning about the eco-system at this elevation, the hike starts back for the hotel. At first you are surrounded by sub-Alpine forest where vegetation does not grow higher than a meter. This forest zone is also known as Páramo and is only found on the high ground of the Talamanca Cordillera and in the South American Andes.

As the hike progresses, you can see how the eco-system changes until you are totally immersed in the cloud forest with its huge oaks and perpetually green vegetation … without a doubt, this is a unique experience that will stay with you forever.

Approximately five hours after starting off, the hotel awaits you where you can enjoy a drink at the bar or reward your body with a relaxing massage.

 The town is famous for its cheese making: much of the local cheese is produced here. The fruit and vegetables grown on the fertile volcanic soils surrounding the town are also known throughout the country for their high quality.

Aquiares Coffee & Community Experience.

You will tour the plantation in a farm truck and you will experience the coffee process as a true worker. After knowing the agricultural details necessary for theharvest, we will visit one of the beautiful waterfalls that embellish our farm. We will enjoy a delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch at the farm’s Hacienda, a house witha lot of history and beautiful gardens.

In the afternoon we will visit the mill to see how the coffee bean is processed and its quality classification.It will be a unique experience where you will be in contact with the real world of coffee We start the day on the balcony of Hacienda La Esperanza with a delicious breakfast and of course, with one of our special coffees.

After that, a farm truck will wait for us to tour the coffee plantation. This truck is used by the company totransport the pickers to the different areas of the plantation, so, you will have a real experience of a normal day in the harvest season.

La Fortuna is a small community in Costa Rica, northwest of the capital, San José. It is known as a gateway to the Arenal Volcano National Park, which encompasses 2 volcanoes.

This beautiful lagoon of 55 hectares (136 acres) in diameter is located at the base of Cerro Congo Volcano about 11 linear km (7 mi) from the crater of Poas Volcano. This site is known for its excellent trekking and hiking trails with different types of landscapes and terrains ranging from dirt, to clay, volcanic rock, and pastures in a forest located at approximately 800 m (2625 ft) above sea level.

We will leave La Fortuna around 7:30 am and travel for one hour and thirty minutes through the plains of San Carlos and the outskirts of Juan Castro Blanco National Park. Once we arrive at the Hule Lagoon, we will prepare to embark on our expedition to the volcanic lagoons.

Walk for 30 minutes on beautiful trails in the forest to reach the waterfall, with the picturesque landscape of the dry tropical forest and observing the wildlife that we find on the way. You will have plenty of time to relax at the waterfall before walking back to the hotel.
