Chocolate Tour:

A sweet surprise is waiting for you: Chocolate, which was once one of the most important products for the Mayan and Aztec cultures, as well as other Central American cultures. The Chocolate Tour in the Tirimbina Reserve begins with crossing the popular suspension bridge to a former cacao-tree (Theobroma cacao) plantation. During the walk, you will learn about the natural and cultural history of the cacao tree and, upon reaching the plantation, a guide of the Tirimbina Reserve will reveal the secrets of how a cacao fruit transforms into chocolate. You’ll see the chocolate-making process first-hand and will have the opportunity to treat your taste buds to organic rainforest chocolate.

Boca Tapada

Situated near the mouth of the San Carlos River in Costa Rica’s northern lowlands, Boca Tapada is renowned for its ecotourism as it boasts a rich diversity of fauna and flora. This remote area is characterised by endless pineapple and sugar cane plantations, lush tropical jungle, and vast wetlands, and is known as one of the last remaining nesting sites of the endangered Great Green Macaw. Visit the Maquenque Wildlife Refuge and Biological Corridor, hike through dense forest or simply laze in a hammock and listen to nature’s symphony of sounds. Aside from the endemic macaw, twitchers can also enjoy spotting over 400 other species including the Rufescent Tiger-Heron, the exotic Dusky Antbird, and the Keel-billed Toucan.

Bijagua

Tucked between the slopes of Miravalles Volcano and Tenorio Volcano in a verdant valley south of Upala, Bijagua de Upala, also known simply as Bijagua, is a small farming community set on the border of Guanacaste and Alajuela. This remote village is a rustic retreat, perfectly placed as a gateway to the famous Tenorio Volcano National Park. Outdoor lovers can enjoy a scenic trek along the trails and watch the hypnotic torrent of the Rio Celeste Waterfall as it plunges into the turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon. After hours of exploring the forest’s leafy landscape, weary travellers can enjoy a leisurely soak in the park’s thermal hot springs. Don’t miss a visit to the Heliconias Rainforest Lodge, where visitors can traverse the network of trails and suspension bridges set amid lush rainforest.

Rincón de la Vieja

The Rincon de la Vieja area is a hot spot for the eco-adventurer and one of the most fascinating places to explore in Costa Rica. It has four volcanoes that are very close to each other and they are Rincon de la Vieja, Orosi, Santa Maria and Miravalles. This region is surrounded by wonderful dense vegetation and is home to a plethora of insect species and wildlife.

Canyoning La Victoria Waterfall:

After a 45 minutes horseback ride, arrival at the changing rooms to prepare for the canyon tour. Short briefing about security at the foot of the Victoria waterfall before beginning the canyon adventure. Moving yourself by cable, experience the effects of the swing going through the water of the Victoria, falling in the pool later on while rappelling and as desert climbing the wall of the cascade.After this great event we’ll change again and let the horses take us to the hotel.
